The best itinerary to explore the south of Morocco From Marrakech over the Atlas mountains to the sand dunes of Merzouga where you will ride the camels and spend the night with the nomads.
Day 1 : After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and depart for Ouarzazate via one of the highest passes in the Atlas Mountains, Tizi-n-Tischka, which is 2260 meters at the top, you will stop to enjoy the "Berber whiskey" (Moroccan tea). Along the way you will see the traditional Berber farmers using the terraced style of planting for their farms on the mountains side. Before arriving to Ouarzazate you will visit the old village of Ait Ben Haddou which is the location site for movies such as "The Jewell of the Nile" and "Lawrence of Arabia". Arrive into Ouarzazate and check into the hotel. |

Day 2 : Departure In the morning toward Zagora via Tizi-n-Tinifift pass in the Anti Atlas to reach Agdez and the Draa valley. You will take the unpaved road starting from Tansikht village through the forest of the palm trees toward the Oasis of Zagora where you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit the first sand dunes of Tinfou and the mediaeval library of Tamegroute with its old books which goes back to 11 century. Check into the hotel in Zagora. |

Day 3 : You will continue to Merzouga through the oasis crossing the stone desert over the Anti Atlas with its beautiful landscapes, stop for lunch will be in Tazarine village. In this area of desert landscape and fortified villages, which used to be the old caravan road bringing gold from South Africa to exchange for sugar and salt you will continue to the dunes of Merzouga and exchange your 4x4 with camels and ride inside the sand dunes to spend the night in the oasis of erg chebi.
Day 4 : Wake up early and walk across the dunes to see the beautiful sunrise, have your breakfast, pack your gear and ride back to where your car and driver are waiting to pick you up. You will drive in the desert landscape and see many fortified villages in the magnificent palm gardens of the Ziz Valley. |

Arrive into Tinghir, you will stop for lunch in the heart of the spectacular Todra Gorge, with its huge, breathtaking red cliffs. It is a paradise for mountain climbing. After lunch, take a small hike through the canyons and explore the Dades gorge. Late in the afternoon, you will check into your hotel in the Dades valley.
Day 5 : After breakfast, you will drive along the dades valley to the Ait youl Kasbah and turn to the unpaved road toward the beautiful village of Boutaghrar. You will reach the famous Skoura palm grove where you will stop for lunch by the Berbers family and continue to Marrakech via Tizi-n-Tishka pass. You will see Berber farmers working on their terraced farms, and herding sheep. Arrive into Marrakech and checking to the hotel.
